Ken Roczen Wins Wild Cleveland Triple Crown as Supercross Title Fight Tightens Dramatically

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship delivered one of its most chaotic nights of the year on Saturday as Round 14 took over Cleveland for the first time in 30 years. Inside Huntington Bank Field, rain, wind, and cold temperatures turned the night into a survival test, and when the dust settled, the championship picture tightened to its closest point in weeks.

Ken Roczen came out on top in the Triple Crown format, using unmatched consistency across all three races to earn his fourth win of the season and close to within one point of the championship lead.

Race 1 opened with Hunter Lawrence grabbing the holeshot and controlling the pace early. Roczen settled into second and tried to apply pressure but ultimately finished runner-up as Lawrence took the win.

Race 2 brought worsening conditions with rain and slick ruts. Justin Cooper capitalized on a strong start and held on for the win, while Roczen again rode steady to finish second. Lawrence recovered from a rough start to finish fifth, losing valuable points in the process.

Race 3 became the deciding moment. Roczen jumped out front immediately and never gave the field a chance to catch him. He built a gap of more than five seconds and controlled the race from start to finish while others around him struggled with crashes and mistakes. He took the win by 8.7 seconds, locking up the overall victory.

By combining finishes of 2-2-1, Roczen claimed the overall win with just five points. Cooper Webb and Justin Cooper both finished with 11 points, rounding out the podium behind him.

Roczen said the conditions played a huge role in strategy and execution.

“I had no idea I was one point back in the championship. Once I got the holeshot in the last race, I just focused on staying clean and not making mistakes.”

The bigger storyline came in the championship fight. Lawrence’s struggles in Race 3, where he finished 14th after multiple crashes, dropped him to sixth overall on the night. His points lead shrank from 10 points down to just a single point over Roczen with three rounds remaining.

Lawrence admitted it was a rough night but remained focused on the final stretch of the season.

“We’ll come back next weekend and reset. It just wasn’t our night.”

In the Eastern Divisional 250SMX Class, Nate Thrasher delivered a breakout performance of his own, earning the overall win with a 2-1-4 score across the Triple Crown format. Cole Davies and Landen Gordon completed the podium.

Thrasher’s win marked his seventh career Supercross victory and added another layer to an already tight championship battle, as Davies maintained his points lead despite finishing third overall.

With just three rounds remaining in the season, the title fights in both classes are now razor thin, and Cleveland may be remembered as the night everything shifted.
