Charles Leclerc will remain with Ferrari after signing a new contract that extends his long-running partnership with the iconic Formula 1 team.
The announcement arrives ahead of his home race in Monaco and reinforces Ferrari’s commitment to the driver they have built their modern project around. While the team did not reveal the exact length of the deal, it confirmed Leclerc will continue with the Scuderia for “the coming seasons.”
For Leclerc, the decision continues a relationship that has defined his career.
Ferrari signed the Monaco-born driver through its academy system and promoted him to a race seat in 2019 after his time at Sauber. Since then, he has become one of the central figures in the team’s rebuild effort and now enters his eighth season with the Maranello-based squad.
Leclerc said staying with Ferrari is about more than just racing. It is a personal connection that has grown since his childhood.
“I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP,” Leclerc said. “It has always been so much more than just a team to me. It’s the team I’ve loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years it has become a second family.”
He acknowledged both the highs and lows of his time with Ferrari, but made clear his belief in the project has not wavered.
Leclerc also emphasized the responsibility that comes with driving for the most famous team in Formula 1 and his desire to deliver a championship for the fans and the factory in Maranello.
“Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it’s also a responsibility I never take for granted,” he said. “I’ll continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs.”
At 28 years old, Leclerc already sits near the top of Ferrari’s record books. He has made 155 starts for the team, second only to Michael Schumacher, and ranks among the team’s all-time leaders in pole positions and race wins.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur praised Leclerc not just for his speed, but for his role within the team structure. He described the renewal as a natural step in a partnership that has continued to grow stronger over time.
“Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now and this renewal feels like something very natural for us,” Vasseur said. “We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and the way he approaches every day with the people in the Scuderia.”
Vasseur also pointed to Leclerc’s deep understanding of Ferrari’s long-term goals and his importance both on and off the track.
For Ferrari, keeping Leclerc represents continuity in a project still chasing its first world championship in the modern era. For Leclerc, it is another commitment to the team he has always called home.
As Formula 1 heads deeper into a competitive new era, both driver and team remain locked into the same goal: returning Ferrari to the top of the championship fight.
