Cole Davies Clinches 250SMX Title as Ken Roczen Takes Control of 450 Championship in Philadelphia

Round 15 of the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship delivered chaos, drama, and championship implications as rain-soaked conditions at Lincoln Financial Field turned the penultimate East Coast stop into one of the wildest races of the season.

When the dust—and mud—settled, Cole Davies secured the Eastern Divisional 250SMX Class Championship, while Ken Roczen surged into the 450SMX Class points lead with another clutch victory.

Davies Seals First Career Title in Chaotic 250SMX Race

In treacherous conditions, the 250SMX Main Event became a survival test as much as a race.

Davies wasted no time asserting himself in the shortened feature. After an early crash from title rival Seth Hammakershuffled the order, Davies capitalized—despite a brief fall of his own—to take control of the race before a red flag reset the field.

On the restart, the New Zealander was flawless.

He pulled away from Daxton Bennick and never looked back, cruising to a dominant 12.9-second victory. Hammaker charged back through the field but couldn’t secure the runner-up spot he needed, ultimately finishing third behind Bennick.

That result was enough to mathematically lock up the championship for Davies with one race remaining.

“This means everything to me and my family,” Davies said. “We’ve sacrificed everything to be here. To get it done like this—it’s a dream come true.”

The title makes Davies just the second New Zealander to win a Supercross championship, joining Ben Townley, and continues a dominant season for Yamaha in the 250 class.

Roczen Rises as 450SMX Title Fight Intensifies

The 450SMX Main Event brought just as much intensity, with the championship’s top contenders immediately at the front.

Hunter Lawrence grabbed the holeshot, but Roczen quickly surged from third to the lead, setting the tone early. As the race settled in, Roczen and Lawrence broke away from Cooper Webb.

Then came the turning point.

Lawrence crashed while pressuring for the lead, dropping him well behind and handing Roczen full control. From there, the German rider managed the race masterfully, navigating heavy lapped traffic and fending off a late push from Webb to secure his fifth win of the season.

Webb finished second, while Lawrence salvaged third in a damage-control effort.

“I’m just trying to stay calm and do what I need to each weekend,” Roczen said. “This was such an important race. In these conditions, anything can happen.”

Championship Picture Tightens

Roczen’s victory—and fourth win in five races—puts him atop the 450SMX standings for the first time this season, holding a slim four-point lead over Lawrence with two rounds remaining.

Webb remains within striking distance, 24 points back, but the title fight is increasingly shaping into a Roczen vs. Lawrence showdown.

With unpredictable conditions continuing to play a role and only two races left, the 2026 Supercross season is setting up for a dramatic finish.

Final Thoughts

Philadelphia delivered exactly what this season has promised—unpredictability, resilience, and championship-defining moments.

Davies leaves with a title.
Roczen leaves with momentum.

And the 450SMX championship?
Still very much up for grabs.
