Busch Hospitalized Due To Illness, Sidelined For Charlotte

Kyle Busch will not compete this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway after being hospitalized with what his family described as a “severe illness.”

The Busch family released a statement Thursday morning confirming the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion is currently receiving treatment and will miss all scheduled racing activities this weekend, including Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600 and Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.

“Kyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization,” the family said in the statement. “He is currently undergoing treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.”

Busch was scheduled to compete in both the Cup Series for Richard Childress Racing and the Truck Series with Spire Motorsports. The news comes just days after Busch dominated the Truck Series race at Dover Motor Speedway for his latest victory in the series.

Richard Childress Racing confirmed that Austin Hill will substitute for Busch in the No. 8 Chevrolet during the Coca-Cola 600.

“Kyle Busch’s health is our utmost priority and he and his family have the full resources of RCR behind them,” the organization said in a statement. “Please keep Kyle and the Busch family in your prayers, and help us respect the family’s privacy at this time.”

Busch currently sits 24th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings through 12 races in the 2026 season.
