Caitlin Clark will add another major moment to her growing star power this month after being named grand marshal for the 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Indiana Fever superstar and Gainbridge ambassador will give the iconic command for drivers to report to their cars during pre-race ceremonies ahead of the 2026 Indy 500 on May 24.
Clark said being part of one of Indiana’s most celebrated traditions is a special opportunity. “I’m honored to represent Gainbridge as grand marshal of the Indy 500,” Clark said. “I’m looking forward to experiencing an iconic piece of what makes Indiana so special and being part of the time-honored tradition of ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”
Since arriving in Indianapolis as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Clark has quickly become one of the biggest stars in sports. The former Indiana Fever standout shattered multiple league records during her rookie season, earned WNBA Rookie of the Year honors, and was named to the All-WNBA First Team.
Before turning pro, Clark became the all-time leading scorer in college basketball history during her legendary career at University of Iowa.
INDYCAR and IMS President J. Douglas Boles said fans have been eager to see Clark experience Indy 500 race day firsthand since arriving in Indiana. He added that her presence will bring added excitement to one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
Clark joins a growing list of celebrity grand marshals that includes Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Blake Shelton, and Stephanie Beatriz.
The 2026 Indianapolis 500 will air live on FOX, with race day coverage beginning at 10 a.m. ET.
