Dominant Larson Claims Third Win of 2025 at Kansas, Scores Perfect 61-Point Day

Kyle Larson and the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports team put together a near-flawless performance Sunday at Kansas Speedway, completely overwhelming the field to claim their third NASCAR Cup Series victory of the 2025 season in the AdventHealth 400.

Starting from the pole, Larson swept both stages, led a race-high 221 of 267 laps, and clocked the Xfinity Fastest Lap, earning a maximum 61 points—the first perfect-scoring race of the season.

“I was trying really hard to pace myself because I believe that was our longest run of the day,” said Larson, reflecting on his 32nd career win. “I had been struggling a little bit at the end of the runs; Chase [Elliott] was really good… But a great car, great execution today, too, for our team.”

Unlike the razor-thin margin that netted him the 2024 Kansas win, Larson had a comfortable lead at the checkered flag this time, besting Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Chase Briscoe, and teammate Alex Bowman, who rounded out the top five.

Josh Berry, rebounding from mid-race contact, claimed sixth, followed by Ryan Preece, Chris Buescher, Joey Logano, and John Hunter Nemechek in the top 10.

A noteworthy performance came from Corey Heim, who finished 13th in his first Cup start of the season for 23XI Racing—also the highest finisher for the organization on the day.

It wasn’t a clean day for all contenders. Chase Elliott, who led 29 laps, lost crucial track position during a pit stop mishap when the jack dropped on the right side of his No. 9 Chevy. He faded to 15th by the end. Kyle Busch finished 21st after spinning in the final stage—following contact with Noah Gragson, who was retaliating after a three-wide battle with Josh Berry. That incident, one of several in the chaotic final stage, occurred with 61 laps to go.

Other late-race incidents collected Daniel Suarez, Justin Haley, Bubba Wallace, Josh Berry, and Erik Jones.

Mechanical issues also played a role: Brad Keselowski, running second at the time, suffered a blown tire on lap 195. Under the same caution, Denny Hamlin—managing a clutch issue all race—broke his transaxle trying to leave his stall, ending his day prematurely despite a solid top-10 run.

The race featured 15 lead changes among nine drivers and seven total cautions. But once the dust settled and the final restart flew with 49 laps remaining, Larson was untouchable.

Sunday’s performance also saw Larson surpass 10,000 career laps led, a testament to his consistent dominance at the Cup level. With his third win, Larson is now tied with Bell for the most victories through 12 races in 2025.
