Justin Allgaier Capitalizes Late for Darlington Victory

Justin Allgaier used strong pit stops and clutch restarts to capture the win in the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help a Hero 200 at Darlington Raceway. The victory marked his fourth at the track, his second of the 2026 season, and the 30th of his career in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, tying him with Joey Logano for seventh on the all-time wins list.

Allgaier’s path to Victory Lane came down to timing and execution. A slow pit stop late in the race dropped dominant driver Kyle Larson back in the field, opening the door for Allgaier. On the final restart with 15 laps to go, he powered past Brandon Jones to take control and never gave it back, winning by .578 seconds.

Despite not having the fastest car throughout the race, Allgaier credited his pit crew for keeping him in position. Their consistency on pit road allowed him to stay near the front when it mattered most. The win also continued a strong stretch for JR Motorsports, marking the fourth straight victory for the team’s Chevrolets.

Larson appeared unstoppable early, leading the first 94 laps from the pole and sweeping both stages. He regained the lead after a mid-race restart, but the final caution changed everything. Following a late crash, Larson could only recover to fourth, unable to move through traffic in the closing laps.

Jones, who restarted on the front row for the final run, chose the bottom lane but could not match Allgaier’s launch from the outside. He finished second, with Christopher Bell taking third. Carson Kvapil rounded out the top five.

Rookie Corey Day continued his consistent season with a sixth-place finish, marking his fifth straight top-10 result. Sheldon Creed, Parker Retzlaff, Sammy Smith, and Sam Mayer completed the top 10.

With the win, Allgaier extended his points lead heading into the next race at Martinsville Speedway. Jesse Love, who entered the race as his closest challenger, finished 11th after an early spin, ending his streak of top-10 finishes.
