When the 2026 Formula 1 season launches this weekend at the Australian Grand Prix, one of the most exciting young drivers in the sport will make his full-time debut for Racing Bulls (VCARB).
At just 18-years old, Arvid Lindblad has emerged as a shining star in F1’s development pipeline. He was born in Surrey, England, to a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent. His multicultural background has made him one of the more globally representative young drivers in the sport’s modern era. By his early teens, he was already winning major international karting titles, establishing himself as one of the standout talents of his generation.
In 2021, Lindblad joined the Red Bull Junior Team part time as a kart racer. Across eight races that year, he won twice and never finished worse than third. He became a full-time Red Bull driver the next year at age 14
The 2022 season also marked his debut in Formula 4, where he would come to dominate his opposition. Across 54 Formula 4 events in 2022 and 2023, Lindblad claimed nine wins and 18 podiums.
In 2024, he upgraded to Formula 3, where he nailed five wins in 29 races.
Last year, he competed in two series. In the Formula Regional Oceana Championship, which runs cars with two-liter Toyota engines topping out at roughly 155 mph, he grabbed six wins and 12 podiums in 15 races to claim the driver’s championship. In that season’s Formula 2 campaign, he won three times and earned five podiums in 27 races, finishing sixth in the driver’s championship for Spanish outfit Campos Racing.
Last year also saw him make an appearance in an F1 practice session ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix. That day, he took Max Verstappen’s Red Bull seat and finished with the sixth-fastest time in FP1. In December 2025, he signed a contract with Racing Bulls to compete alongside Liam Lawson in the 2026 Grand Prix season.
What makes Lindblad special is his poise. He mixes raw quickness with deliberate decision-making. While he’s obviously still developing physically and technically, his trajectory suggests he could become a serious force if given time and the right machinery.
