The 2026 Monster Energy Supercross season delivered another unforgettable night as round five took over State Farm Stadium in Glendale. A record crowd packed the building and FanFest also saw its biggest turnout ever. The fans were rewarded with thrilling racing and a major shakeup in both championship battles.
In the 450SMX Class, Ken Roczen added another big moment to his already impressive career. The Progressive Insurance Cycle Gear Suzuki rider became the fourth different winner in the first five races this season. That kind of parity has made the early part of the championship unpredictable and exciting.
The Main Event started with chaos. Vince Friese grabbed the holeshot, but Hunter Lawrence quickly moved into the lead with Roczen and Cooper Webb right behind him. Trouble struck early for points leader Eli Tomac, who went down in the first turn after contact with Christian Craig. Tomac rejoined the race far back in the field and faced a long night ahead.
Up front, Lawrence controlled the pace early, but Roczen was clearly on a mission. About four minutes into the race, Roczen made his move and took over the lead. From there, he never looked back. He built a solid gap and rode smoothly on a fast and tricky track. Lawrence held on for second, while Webb settled into third after losing touch with the leaders.
Roczen crossed the line first for his 24th career Supercross win and his fifth victory at State Farm Stadium. The win was emotional, as Roczen dedicated it to team manager Larry Brooks, who is currently battling cancer. Lawrence finished second for the fourth race in a row and took over the championship points lead for the first time in his 450 career. Webb rounded out the podium, while Tomac fought his way back to 12th to limit the damage.
While the 450 class delivered drama, the 250SMX West division was all about dominance. Haiden Deegan once again proved he is the rider to beat. Deegan grabbed the holeshot and led every lap of the Main Event, making it four straight wins to start the season.
Deegan quickly pulled away from the field and never faced a real challenge. Behind him, the battle was intense. Levi Kitchen charged through the pack after starting deep in the field. He passed 17 riders and climbed all the way to second place in the closing laps. Cameron McAdoo fought his way back to third, earning his third podium in four races.
Deegan’s wire to wire victory extended his points lead to 27, giving him more than a full race advantage in the standings. His confidence and speed have separated him from the rest of the field, and every week it looks harder to stop his momentum.
Glendale showed exactly why this Supercross season is must watch. Big crowds, surprise winners, emotional victories, and rising stars are shaping a year fans will remember for a long time.
