Cadillac F1 Unveils Stunning New Car at Super Bowl With Surprising Twists

The reveal of the new U.S.-based Cadillac F1 Team car’s livery on Sunday occurred in the most American way possible: With a commercial during the Super Bowl, the most red, white and blue event of them all. It was a brilliant strategic move by the team to get their emerging brand in front of more than 100 million viewers from across every demographic.

Fortunately for Cadillac F1, the new livery looks absolutely stunning and is sure to catch the eye of people who perhaps weren’t aware of the team’s launch specifically or the start of the new F1 season in general.

The car, powered by a Ferrari engine, features a unique asymmetrical, achromatic design. The right side is mainly black that fades into gray on the rear of the sidepod and engine cover. The left side features more white on the nose, sidepod and engine cover. We especially love how the Cadillac word mark blends into the overall scheme: white on black on one side, and black on white on the other side.

The front wing follows a similar design scheme: black on the right and white on the left. The nose is black near the halo fading to white near the tip. The combined effect is a car that looks lean and mean even while standing still.

And speaking of that halo…it’s just, shall we say, extra. The halo sports a mirrored finish that reminds of the chrome on a lowrider bike. We’re wondering how long Cadillac will be able to keep that finish if drivers around them start complaining of the bright sun reflecting into their eyes.

Followers of F1 also might have noticed another interesting twist: a general lack of sponsors. The TWG logo that dominates the sidepod represents TWG Motorsports, who, together with General Motors, operate the team. Of course, Cadillac branding can be found across the car. Notable sponsor logos include liquor producer Jim Beam and Claro, a Mexico-based telecom company that has been a supporter of driver Sergio Perez for many years. Compare this to, for example, Mercedes. Their car features no less than four major corporate sponsors on the sidepods and engine cover.

Keep a sharp eye on the Cadillac F1 car in the future for the addition of more lucrative sponsor logos to their vehicle.
