North Wilkesboro Expands 2026 NASCAR Cup Race to 450 Laps

Race fans heading to one of NASCAR’s most historic venues will get even more action in 2026. North Wilkesboro Speedway officials announced Thursday that the track’s NASCAR Cup Series points race on July 19 will extend to 450 laps, adding 50 laps to the original distance. The event will be known as the Window World 450.

This marks the first 450 lap Cup Series race ever held at North Wilkesboro and the first time NASCAR’s top series has featured a 450 lap event since 1974. The expanded distance reflects the track’s renewed commitment to creating a memorable on site experience for fans, according to North Wilkesboro Speedway Executive Director Graig Hoffman.

“North Wilkesboro Speedway is all about the fans, and adding more laps per dollar to the Window World 450 is sure to create a better experience for everyone who enters the gates,” Hoffman said. “Sunday night races are made to be a spectacle. The Window World 450 will be an electric night at America’s throwback race track, and the stakes will be higher than ever before with the winner punching a ticket to the NASCAR Playoffs.”

The race will cap a packed three day weekend of competition. The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will return for a 250 lap race on Saturday, July 18. On Friday, July 17, the zMAX CARS Tour will headline a doubleheader that showcases the best of short track racing. Fans can secure access to all three nights with a weekend ticket package that is designed to maximize value.

More details on the competition schedule and race week entertainment will be released later. Tickets and camping options are already available at http://www.northwilkesborospeedway.com.
