As NASCAR moves toward finalizing its 2026 Cup Series schedule, a late development could shake up the calendar. Sources familiar with the talks, but not authorized to speak publicly, told The Athletic that Dover Motor Speedway in Delaware is being strongly considered as the new home of the All-Star Race.

If Dover secures the non-points exhibition, it would open the door for North Wilkesboro Speedway to host a Cup points race for the first time since 1996. The historic North Carolina short track has been home to the All-Star Race since 2023, following its celebrated return to the NASCAR schedule.

While no decision has been finalized, the potential venue change is under serious review. NASCAR is aiming to release the complete 2026 Cup Series schedule as early as next week.
