Connor Zilisch’s Watkins Glen celebration took a frightening turn Saturday, but the Xfinity Series points leader has been released from the hospital after evaluation.
The 19-year-old had just captured his series-best sixth win of the season when he slipped and fell from the driver’s side door of his car in Victory Lane. Safety crews quickly responded, placing him on a stretcher with a neck brace before transporting him to the infield care center and then to a local hospital for precautionary checks.
According to those close to the situation, Zilisch was awake and alert throughout and has since been discharged.
Zilisch post on X that he is out of the hospital but has a broken collarbone.
