Rico Abreu Triumphs in 360 Knoxville Nationals, Sets Stage for Sprint Car Racing’s Biggest Week

Before the spotlight shines on the prestigious Granddaddy of Them All—the Knoxville Nationals—next week, the 360 Nationals have already brought the heat to Iowa’s Marion County Fairgrounds.

Rico Abreu stole the show in the 35th running of the Xtream Powered by Mediacom 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank. Starting from the pole, Abreu led 28 of the 30 laps and held off a strong late-race push from Kyle Larson to secure his first career 360 Nationals title. Larson briefly took the lead on laps 23 and 24, but Abreu rallied back and crossed the finish line just 0.879 seconds ahead.

Larson settled for second after a fierce battle, while Parker Price-Miller claimed third. Rounding out the top five were Ryan Timms in fourth and Justin Peck in fifth.

Giovanni Scelzi turned heads with a hard-charging drive from 17th to eighth in his debut weekend with Clauson-Marshall Racing. Filling in for the injured Tyler Courtney, Scelzi earned hard-charger honors and showed impressive speed in a new ride.

With the 360s now in the books, anticipation builds for the Knoxville Nationals as the best sprint car drivers in the world prepare to battle for one of the sport’s most coveted titles.
