Racing icon Tony Stewart added another prestigious achievement to his illustrious career on Sunday, capturing his first NHRA Top Fuel win at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the 25th annual NHRA 4-Wide Nationals.
Stewart, already a champion in both NASCAR and IndyCar, powered his Rayce Rudeen Foundation Dodge//SRT dragster to a winning time of 3.870 seconds at 317.42 mph, narrowly defeating reigning world champion Antron Brown at the finish line. The victory comes just two weeks after Stewart reached the final round in Pomona, showing the steady progress of his relatively young NHRA career.
“It’s unreal. I haven’t been around the NHRA that long and I realize it takes a long time to win a race in this series,” Stewart said after the win. “Everything in my career, I never had to wait over a year to win a race. I always figured it out in the first year, and multiple ones normally, so I’m just very appreciative of this win.”
The path to victory wasn’t easy for Stewart, who qualified fifth and then won both of his early quad matchups on holeshots before facing off against Brown, Jasmine Salinas, and Justin Ashley in the final round. The win was particularly meaningful at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where Stewart has now won on every configuration of the track.
Perhaps the most poignant moment came when Stewart’s wife Leah Pruett brought their son Dom to the winner’s stage. “When I saw her coming up those steps with him, my heart stopped,” Stewart shared. “That was a feeling I’ve never had in my life before.”
The victory moved Stewart to second place in the Top Fuel points standings, while Shawn Langdon maintained the overall lead in the category.
In other division action, defending Funny Car world champion Austin Prock earned his first win of the season with a run of 4.009 seconds at 316.01 mph in his Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS. Dallas Glenn claimed the Pro Stock trophy, his second win of the 2025 season and third at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
