Heim Time Strikes Again: Corey Heim Conquers Las Vegas

Corey Heim faced a perfect storm of adversity during Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway but still managed to emerge victorious in the Ecosave 200. The talented driver overcame a mechanical issue in practice, two lengthy rain delays, and a rare pit road penalty to secure his second win in the first three races of the 2025 season.

This victory marks the 13th triumph of Heim’s Truck Series career, an impressive achievement for the TRICON Garage driver who started 16th on the grid. Heim led a race-high 42 laps en route to victory lane, demonstrating remarkable resilience throughout a challenging day.

“First of all, our pit crew did such a good job getting us back out front. I made that mistake at the end of Stage 1, where I sped on pit road, set us behind,” an elated Heim said during his post-race interview. “Incredible truck, incredible crew. Huge thank you to TRICON Garage, Toyota, Safelite for everything they do. I’m a little bit speechless right now.”

Grant Enfinger brought his No. 9 CR7 Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado home in second place after starting from the 20th position. The runner-up finish gave Enfinger his third consecutive top-10 result to begin the 2025 campaign.

Tanner Gray, one of Heim’s TRICON Garage teammates, completed the podium with a third-place finish in his No. 15 Toyota. Gray made a remarkable late-race charge, climbing from outside the top-10 to secure his first top-five finish since Darlington in 2023.

Ty Majeski and Layne Riggs rounded out the top five. Majeski captured the Stage 1 win and recorded the Xfinity Fastest Lap of the race, earning a valuable bonus point toward his championship defense. Riggs contended for the lead late before executing what many called “the save of the season” when his truck kicked loose in the closing laps.

Stewart Friesen, defending race winner Rajah Caruth, Chandler Smith, Matt Crafton, and Tyler Ankrum completed the top-10 finishers. For Crafton, the result continues his impressive streak at Las Vegas, marking his seventh top-10 in his last eight races at the track.

The race was significantly impacted by weather, with two separate red flag periods due to rain. The first delay lasted nearly an hour, while the second stoppage kept trucks parked for approximately 20 minutes.

Heim’s victory was made even more impressive by his recovery from an uncharacteristic speeding penalty on pit road during the Stage 1 caution – the first such infraction in his 67-race Truck Series career.

Despite Heim’s second victory of the season, Ty Majeski maintains the championship points lead by five points over Heim leaving Las Vegas.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series returns to action on Friday, March 21, at Homestead Miami Speedway, with coverage on FS1.
