Kyle Busch added another milestone to his illustrious NASCAR career, securing his record eighth NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Saturday’s Fr8 Racing 208. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion edged Stewart Friesen by just .017 seconds in a dramatic side-by-side finish.
Busch, driving the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, led a race-high 80 of 135 laps but had to fend off intense competition in the final 20 laps. The victory marked his 67th career Truck Series win and extended his record for national series victories to 232.
“Just trying to make sure I stayed as far forward as I possibly could,” Busch said after the race. “Those guys would cycle to me and get to the next one in front, next one in front of me and I just made sure to keep battling back.”
The race featured intense competition throughout, with 19 lead changes among 11 drivers. Tyler Ankrum and Bayley Currey finished third and fourth respectively, separated by just .001 seconds, with local favorite Chandler Smith rounding out the top five.
Pole-sitter Connor Mosack led 30 laps in his impressive debut but finished 25th after a late-race incident. Championship contender Corey Heim faced misfortune when he ran out of fuel before the Stage 2 break, finishing 23rd.
Grant Enfinger leaves Atlanta with a one-point championship lead over Ty Majeski as the series heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 14.
