The SMX Supercross series heads to AT&T Stadium in Arlington this weekend for Round 7, with the championship battle intensifying after Cooper Webb’s dramatic victory in Detroit. Webb and Chase Sexton are now tied atop the 450 Class standings following a remarkable night of racing that saw Webb capture his 26th career win while Sexton charged from last to third.
Webb’s Detroit victory came by just 0.8 seconds over Ken Roczen, adding another chapter to their storied rivalry that has now produced six finishes decided by less than a second. The win, which came in Webb’s milestone 250th SMX League start, also marked his 67th career podium, moving him past Jeff Ward for 10th all-time in that category.
Arlington’s AT&T Stadium has been a particularly significant venue in recent years, hosting 17 previous events since 2010. The 2025 edition will feature the Triple Crown format, marking the venue’s fifth time hosting the three-race format. Past Triple Crown winners at Arlington include Eli Tomac (2020) and Webb, who memorably swept all three Arlington rounds during the COVID-altered 2021 season.
The track has historically been kind to championship contenders, with 65% of Arlington winners at AT&T Stadium going on to claim the title. However, that trend was broken last year when Webb’s victory didn’t translate to a championship, as Jett Lawrence took the crown despite finishing fourth in Arlington.
In the 250 Class, the Western Regional Championship returns to action with a tight points battle of its own. Julien Beaumer holds a slim red plate lead over Jordon Smith and Haiden Deegan, with just three points separating the trio. Smith enters with momentum after securing Triumph’s historic first SMX League victory at the previous round in Glendale.
This weekend’s event marks the 47th Supercross race in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and the 18th at AT&T Stadium, continuing a rich tradition of racing in the region that dates back to 1975.
