In a dramatic night of racing at Ford Field in Detroit, Cooper Webb secured his first victory of the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross season, setting up an exciting championship battle as he pulled even with Chase Sexton in the points standings.
Webb, riding for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, had to work for his win against a determined Ken Roczen. The Progressive Insurance ECSTAR Suzuki rider Roczen controlled most of the 20-minute plus one lap Main Event before Webb made his decisive move in the closing minutes.
The race featured an impressive comeback from defending champion Chase Sexton. After getting stuck in the gate and crashing on the opening lap, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider mounted a remarkable charge through the field to claim the final podium position. Despite losing his sole possession of the points lead, Sexton retains the red plate in a tie with Webb just six rounds into the 17-race championship.
In the 250SX Class, Levi Kitchen capitalized on a late-race restart to capture victory. The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider took advantage of the situation to overcome a seven-second deficit to Max Anstie, who had dominated the early portions of the race. The restart, triggered by a red flag, bunched up the field and allowed Kitchen to execute an aggressive pass in the final laps to secure the win. Anstie held on for second, while RJ Hampshire rounded out the podium in third.
The series now heads to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for Round 7 on February 22nd, where both classes will face a Triple Crown format in what promises to be another exciting night of racing.
