Eli Tomac Makes History with Dramatic Supercross Victory in San Diego

Eli Tomac achieved a remarkable milestone at Snapdragon Stadium, securing his 53rd career Monster Energy AMA Supercross victory and making history as the first rider to win races in eleven consecutive seasons. The victory was especially meaningful as it propelled Tomac into the championship points lead, marking an incredible comeback following what many feared could have been a career-ending injury in 2023.

The main event featured intense racing throughout, with Tomac holding off a determined Jett Lawrence until the final lap. Lawrence, who finished second, showed significant improvement from his 12th place result at the Anaheim Opener. Cooper Webb led the early stages of the race but was simultaneously passed by both Tomac and Lawrence at the midpoint. Despite feeling under the weather, Webb managed to fend off a late challenge from Ken Roczen to maintain his podium position.

Last week’s winner, Chase Sexton, faced early adversity with a first-lap crash but demonstrated impressive resilience by fighting through the pack to secure sixth place.

In the Western Regional 250SX Class, the night belonged to Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Julien Beaumer, who captured his first career Supercross victory. The 18-year-old rider showed patience and skill, working his way past early leader Cole Davies about six and a half minutes into the race. Triumph Racing’s Jordon Smith claimed second place, while defending 250SMX World Champion Haiden Deegan recovered from a mid-pack start to round out the podium.

“It has been a long time since I’ve won one of these 20-minute Main Events,” Tomac reflected after the race. “So it feels so good to rebound from last weekend; it was a heartbreak there in Anaheim… I had to work for this.”

The event marked Snapdragon Stadium’s third Monster Energy AMA Supercross event, treating San Diego fans to an evening of memorable racing and witnessing Tomac’s historic achievement.
