Nemechek Gets New Crew Chief: Travis Mack Joins LEGACY MOTOR CLUB

NASCAR’s LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has made a significant addition to its racing lineup, announcing Travis Mack as the new crew chief for John Hunter Nemechek’s No. 42 Toyota Camry XSE team for the upcoming season.

Travis Mack, a 41-year-old veteran of the motorsports industry, brings an impressive resume to LEGACY MOTOR CLUB. His extensive background includes critical roles at several prominent racing organizations, most notably Hendrick Motorsports and Trackhouse Racing.

Mack’s racing journey began with Frank Kimmel’s Clement Racing ARCA Menards Series team, where he was part of three championship-winning efforts. His career trajectory took him to Hendrick Motorsports in 2004, where he initially worked as a shock specialist and front-end mechanic before advancing to become Car Chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s team.

As a crew chief in the NASCAR Cup Series, Mack has demonstrated his capabilities with notable achievements:

  • One career win with Daniel Suarez at Sonoma Raceway in 2022
  • 11 top-five finishes
  • 31 top-10 finishes
  • Two pole positions

“I’m looking forward to helping LEGACY MOTOR CLUB build something great,” Mack stated. He highlighted his previous working relationship with Jimmie Johnson and expressed excitement about the organization’s potential.

Jacob Canter, Senior Vice President of Sporting Director for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, emphasized the strategic nature of the hire. “As we continue to make changes and evolve on the competition side, the goal is to place the right people in the right places,” Canter explained.

Mack’s hiring is part of a broader staffing initiative at LEGACY MOTOR CLUB. Recent additions include:

  • Chad Johnston as Manager of Race Engineering
  • Brian Campe as Technical Director
  • Jacob Canter as Director of Competition

With Mack joining the team and continuing to work alongside Ben Beshore, who remains crew chief for Erik Jones and the No. 43 team, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB appears committed to building a competitive and dynamic racing organization.

As John Hunter Nemechek enters his second year with the team, the addition of Travis Mack represents a potentially pivotal moment in the team’s development and championship aspirations.
