Red Bull Racing has locked in Sergio Perez as Max Verstappen’s teammate for the next couple of years, announcing a multi-year contract extension for the Mexican driver through the 2026 season.
Perez’s existing deal was set to expire at the end of 2024, but Red Bull has moved to retain him amid a busy driver market where many seats remain unconfirmed for 2025 and beyond. The 34-year-old will now embark on at least his fifth and sixth seasons with the Milton Keynes squad after joining them in 2021 from Racing Point (now Aston Martin).
“I am really happy to commit my future to this great team,” Perez said. “Being part of Red Bull is an immense challenge that I love. We have a great challenge this year and I have full trust in the whole team that the future is bright here.”
Since arriving at Red Bull, Perez has claimed five Grand Prix wins, three pole positions, and finished a career-best second in last year’s championship behind teammate Verstappen. His performances helped Red Bull clinch both the drivers’ and constructors’ titles in 2023.
“Continuity and stability are important for the team and both Checo and Max are a successful partnership,” stated team principal Christian Horner. “Checo has had a strong start to 2024…we are confident in Checo and look forward to his return to top form.”
While Verstappen leads Perez again this season, the latter currently sits fifth in the drivers’ standings through eight races. Red Bull holds a 24-point advantage over Ferrari atop the constructors’ championship during this tightly contested campaign.
With Perez secured for 2025-2026 alongside Verstappen, Red Bull has solidified one of the strongest driver lineups on the grid as they aim to build on their recent double championship success.
