For over half a century, the ARCA Menards Series has been making annual visits to Charlotte Motor Speedway. This Friday, the series writes its next chapter at the 1.5-mile track with the running of the 26th General Tire 150.
The history between ARCA and Charlotte dates back to 1964 when Curtis Turner took the victory in the series’ inaugural event at the North Carolina facility. Following a three-decade hiatus, ARCA returned in 1996 with Tim Steele scoring the first of his three consecutive Charlotte wins.
In the years since, some of racing’s biggest names have etched their names into the Charlotte record books. Frank Kimmel, Adam Petty, Ryan Newman, and Brandon Jones are among the drivers to conquer the demanding 1.5-miler. More recently, rising stars like Ty Majeski, Ty Gibbs, and Jesse Love have taken Charlotte’s top honors.
As the 2024 season hits its midpoint, all eyes will be on Connor Mosack as he looks to keep the momentum going after his Kansas victory two weeks ago. He’ll have stout competition from the likes of Greg Van Alst, Daytona winner Gus Dean, and the stacked Venturini Motorsports lineup.
The General Tire 150 takes the green flag Friday at 6pm ET with coverage on FS1. For fans attending, tickets are still available on the Charlotte Motor Speedway website. The 100-lap event marks the sixth race of the 2024 ARCA Menards Series schedule.
