NASCAR’s return to the recently renovated North Wilkesboro Speedway continues this weekend with a can’t-miss extravaganza at the historic 0.625-mile short track. The NASCAR Cup Series takes center stage with Sunday’s All-Star Race (8 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio), while the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series also makes an appearance with Saturday’s Wright Brand 250 (1:30 p.m. ET).

The $1 million-to-win All-Star Race promises plenty of intrigue, with Kyle Larson sure to be a focal point as the defending winner after dominating last year’s revival race by leading 145 of 200 laps. Larson is aiming for a milestone second consecutive All-Star win to join Davey Allison and Jimmie Johnson in elite company.

However, Larson’s weekend will be a hectic one as he also preps for an Indianapolis 500 run the following weekend. The schedule conflict means former Cup champion Kevin Harvick will handle practice and qualifying duties for Larson’s No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports entry before Larson arrives on race day.

“I’m not stressed out by logistics at all,” Larson said. “I feel like we’ve got a good plan.”

Tire strategy with special compound options could prove critical in the non-points All-Star event. Goodyear has provided teams two sets each of faster “option” and more durable “prime” tires, with mandatory cautions at laps 100 and 150 creating pit strategy opportunities.

Before the All-Star main event, 20 drivers will battle to make the field through the All-Star Open preliminary race (Sunday at 5:30 p.m. ET) and Fan Vote. Qualifying on Friday sets the heat race lineups for Saturday, which will determine the All-Star Race starting order.

The Truck Series race also provides a unique entry list. While standouts like Ty Majeski and Corey Heim lead the regulars, the event also features Cup star Ross Chastain, Xfinity’s Sammy Smith, and rising prospect Dawson Sutton making his series debut. CARS Tour ace Brenden “Butterbean” Queen and Aric Almirola add even more intrigue.

“It’s really special to go to North Wilkesboro because I know the history,” said Las Vegas winner Rajah Caruth. “It’s been really cool to be part of NASCAR’s return to a track with such a deep history.”

From the All-Star spectacle to the varied Truck Series field, North Wilkesboro’s bullring provides the perfect stage for a weekend overflowing with storylines and anticipation.
