Keselowski Snaps Winless Drought with Darlington Triumph

Brad Keselowski ended a 110-race winless streak in dramatic fashion Sunday, taking the victory in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway after a late-race incident involving Chris Buescher and Tyler Reddick.

Keselowski’s first win as a co-owner at Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing came after a tense side-by-side battle with Reddick following a restart on Lap 261. For four laps, the two raced aggressively door-to-door until Buescher managed to slip past into the lead on Lap 264.

However, Reddick’s over-aggressive attempt to take the lead from Buescher on Lap 284 backfired, with contact sending both cars into the wall. That opened the door for the patient Keselowski to surge into the lead on Lap 285 and drive away to the victory.

“It’s Darlington, so whether it’s your first win, your last win, this is a really special track,” said an elated Keselowski. “That battle at the end with my teammate and Tyler Reddick, we just laid it all out on the line.”

The incident drew the ire of Buescher, who confronted Reddick on pit road after the race calling the move “something that you know is not going to work.” Reddick took responsibility, telling Buescher “I (messed) up – I’m sorry.”

Ty Gibbs finished a career-best second, with Josh Berry, Denny Hamlin, and Chase Briscoe rounding out the top five. Kyle Larson continues to lead the series standings, but crashed out in 34th place.

The Cup Series now heads to North Wilkesboro Speedway for next weekend’s $1 million All-Star race at the recently revived track.
