The ARCA Menards Series will take on the high-banked concrete oval of Dover Motor Speedway this Friday in the General Tire 150. The race marks the fourth event of the 2024 ARCA Menards Series season and second for the ARCA East Series, with full points being awarded to both.
While it’s uncharted territory for the national ARCA Menards Series, Dover has been a staple on the East tour dating back to 1987. Legendary names like Jimmy Spencer, Aric Almirola, Bubba Wallace and Harrison Burton have visited Victory Lane at the Monster Mile in East competition.
Three drivers have managed to win multiple East races at Dover – Brett Moffitt, Austin Hill and Sam Mayer. Mayer holds the race record at 154.407 mph set in his 2019 victory. On the qualifying front, Taylor Gray’s 2022 lap of 160.915 mph stands as the one-lap standard.
Christian Rose leads Greg Van Alst by just one point in the current ARCA Menards Series standings coming to Dover. In the East ranks, Gio Ruggiero holds a slim two-point edge over reigning champion William Sawalich after his win in the opener at Five Flags.
Ruggiero will be looking for a good weekend after winning the TA2 race at Sonoma last Sunday. Another driver entering hot is Brent Crews, who took the ZMax CARS Tour Late Model event at Orange County Speedway last weekend.
Teams will get a chance to make scheduled pit stops close to the lap 50 and lap 100 marks under the unique ARCA pit procedures, with teams having a five-minute window for tire changes, fuel and adjustments.
The 150-lap, 150-mile General Tire 150 goes green Friday at 5 p.m. ET with live coverage on FS2 and MRN Radio. With the concrete high banks of Dover being the great equalizer, expect intense action as the ARCA contenders battle the Monster Mile.
