Lucas Oil Late Models Head to Atomic and Brownstown This Weekend

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is back in action this weekend with a pair of lucrative $50,000 events in Ohio and Indiana. The nation’s premier dirt late model tour kicks things off Friday night at Atomic Speedway for the $12,000-to-win Buckeye Spring 50 before heading to Brownstown Speedway on Saturday for the $15,000-to-win 27th Annual John Jones Auto Group Indiana Icebreaker.

Friday’s race at Atomic Speedway in Waverly, Ohio has pit gates opening at 2 PM and general admission gates at 4 PM. Hot laps are scheduled for 5 PM ahead of time trials, heat races, and the 50-lap main event. 305 Sprint Cars and Sport Mods are also on the racing card.

Then on Saturday, the Lucas Oil stars travel west to the legendary high-banked 1/4-mile Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana. All gates open at noon with hot laps set for 6 PM. In addition to the $15,000-to-pay Indiana Icebreaker for the super late models, pure stocks and super stocks will be in action.

Through the first 13 events, there have been nine different winners on the Lucas Oil tour in 2024. The top three in series points – Ricky Thornton Jr., Hudson O’Neal, and Jonathan Davenport – have all visited victory lane along with Daulton Wilson and Brandon Sheppard, who rounds out the top five in the championship standings.

With big money on the line at two premier venues, this weekend’s twin bill is sure to be a can’t-miss for dirt late model fans across the Midwest. Red-hot competitors like Thornton, O’Neal, Davenport and Sheppard will look to keep rolling, while others will aim to break into the win column for the first time in 2024.
