Heavy rain and severe thunderstorms have drenched the Kennedale Speedway Park over the past 48 hours, leaving World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car and track officials no choice but to cancel Friday’s opening night of the Cowtown Classic.
The decision was made out of an abundance of caution for the safety of drivers, crews, and fans. With several inches of precipitation soaking the track, attempting to race would have posed too great a risk, but the weekend isn’t a complete washout! The sun is forecast to return on Saturday for the Cowtown Classic finale at Kennedale Speedway Park.
While the season is young, the standings are always important and right now the points battle remains heated, with David Gravel leading Donny Schatz and Giovanni Scelzi by just 12 points.
While opening night was a disappointment, the stage is now set for an epic Saturday showdown at Kennedale as the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars look to put on a classic show for the rescheduled Cowtown Classic finale live on DORTVision.
